LATEST: MP Matt Western raised the matter in the Houses of Parliament in Feb 2024, where he was assured of a meeting with the Minister for Rural Affairs to address the matter. Due to the elections this has been delayed, however we look forward to hearing the outcome of this meeting as soon as MP’s are back in seat. View here. 

June 2024: RAPID request monthly multi agency meetings with the Environment Agency, Warwick District Council and our MP to ensure the operations are ceased. A legal fund has been established to enable us to take this campaign to the next level.

June 2024: RAPID formally complain about Warwick District Council and The Environment Agencies failure to act in the interest of public safety.

Nov 2023 – Flies start to reduce in numbers over the winter (start again in April 2024), complaints of smells and noise increase

15 Aug 2023 – RAPID contacted Matt Western MP for support

 

15 Aug 2023 – Reported to the Environment Agency (as no action being taken by WDC despite constant complaints and reporting from hundreds of concerned residents) This was 3 months and 27 days after initial complaint

 

28 June 2023 – Post on Warwick Gates & Heathcote Community FB page the update from the council to reassure those effected received 237 comments overnight from people who had been suffering and didn’t know what to do. Relieved to hear the council were ‘taking action’.

 

13 July 2023 – “Environmental Protection Technical Officer” at WDC confirmed they would look into it.

28 June 2023 – WDC confirmed they would “investigate on Monday” and said it was “likely to be the new recycling plant called Berry Polymers”

 

May/June 2023 – Reporting from residents ongoing, lots of concern and distress. Nobody hearing anything from WDC. Followed up but no answer

 

19 April 2023 – Reports start to be formally and regularly reported to WDC regarding intense fly volumes. Previous reports had been submitted from other residents
